U.S. Packaging and Wrapping

04 Sep.,2023

What did businesses do before stretch wrap? They dealt with a large number of returns and refunds due to goods that were damaged during transport. Stretch wrapping is the answer to storing and shipping skid loads of all kinds — from electronics to carpets — with a far lower risk of harm to the product.

However, stretch wrapping by hand is extremely difficult, not to mention slow-going. Wrapping everything manually takes a long time and is not applied as effectively or consistently as a machine. It could be loose or not be adequately layered, which can still cause damage and toppling.

That’s why we have stretch wrap machines. At U.S. Packaging and Wrapping, we carry machines that apply stretch wrap perfectly, regardless of what you’re wrapping. We offer a variety of stretch wrap machines online, as well as many additional models not displayed on our website. Turntable machines are the most common and come in various sizes with multiple features available. Robotic stretch wrap machines and rotary arm machines are famous for light pallet loads, mobile wrapping, or fully automatic packaging lines. Call our sales team today to learn more about these machines not listed online.

Machines can pay for themselves within months, free employees for other tasks, and dramatically increase wrapping speeds. The powered stretching heads on a stretch wrap machine can consistently maximize film stretch. Increasing the film stretch rate reduces film consumption, cost, and environmental impact.

What is a Stretch Wrap Machine?

A stretch wrap machine — also called a pallet wrapper or stretch wrapper — applies stretch film to various products for packaging purposes. We offer a wide range of stretch wrappers on our website and many other models not available in our online catalog.

The most readily used stretch wrap machines are turntable stretch wrap machines. Machines with a turntable rotate the goods as the film is wrapped around the products. Below is a list of different types of stretch wrap machines. Our stock machines accommodate 95% of pallets shipped, but we also offer other machines to meet wrapping and packaging needs, including custom builds.

How Does a Stretch Wrapper Work?

The most common type of stretch wrapping machine is the turntable stretch wrapper. This equipment has a turntable that rotates a product as the stretch film is wrapped around it. These devices are exceptionally cost-effective and can pay for themselves within months. You can dramatically increase wrapping speeds with stretch wrap machines and free up employees for other tasks. Stretch wrap machines have powered stretching heads capable of consistent maximum film stretch, optimizing their stretch wrapping rate. This reduces stretch film consumption, cost, and environmental impact. Each labeled part of the image is further explained.

1. Pallet loads are placed on the turntable for wrapping, and the film is tied to the pallet.

2. The photo eye senses the pallet load.

3. The operator presses the start button to begin wrapping.

4. The film carriage moves vertically up, and down the pallet, stretching the film as the turntable rotates.

5. Upon completion, the turntable returns to the home position, and the operator cuts the material end and attaches it to the pallet.
