Hydraulic reversing unit improves safety of roll mills

[image_0]According to Bosch Rexroth, the company is the only equipment manufacturer in the marketplace offering an easy-retrofit, DIN EN 1417 compliant turnkey package for making hydraulic roll mills reversible. The all-in-one hydraulic turnkey solution from Bosch Rexroth automatically puts the roll mill into reverse after an emergency stop. It also supports intentional reversing in jog mode. The pre-assembled module is quick and easy to install in existing roll mills, says the manufacturer. It comes with a set of mounting rails for fast and flexible installation even in tight spaces. Easy retrofitting, no new CE certification The reversing unit is supplied with a full set of user documentation, comprising hydraulic diagrams and operating instructions, plus a risk analysis. According to an interpretation paper published by BG RCI, the employers' liability insurance association for the German raw materials and chemical industry, the retrofitting of the safety package does not constitute a material alteration to the machinery and therefore does not require the entire roll mill to go through the CE certification process again. Option to integrate more functions In addition to the services included in the package as standard, such as installation and connection of the reversing unit, users have the option of incorporating additional hydraulic functions. On request, for instance, Bosch Rexroth can convert the existing electromechanical roll nip adjustment system into a hydraulic system. "With this safety package, we are offering a very efficient solution to the heightened safety requirements in the rubber manufacturing industry,” commented Håkan Angerbjörn, Industry Sector Manager, Rubber Processing, at Bosch Rexroth.
