Strainers are the first piece of equipment used for the conditioning and filtration of natural gas, oil, water, or just about any fluid moving in a pipeline. We have all possible configurations: “Y” (wye), “T” (Tee), simplex, duplex, and automatics. Body materials include cast iron, steel, stainless, and non-metal: plastic, fiberglass, etc. They are a very sturdy, long lasting option for removing the larger contaminants: they are very reliable down to about 50micron size particles. The straining element is usually made in stainless steel with 1/8” or 1/4″ standard perforations, and a mesh is added for the desired particle size to be removed.
